X Factor's Nicole Scherzinger At Birmingham Auditions

Nicole Scherzinger's main fashion rival Tulisa might've left the X Factor, but she isn't about to let her style standards slip anytime soon.

The Boomerang singer looked stunning in a black and white wrap dress as the judges hit Birmingham to search for the next singing star.

Despite the cool summer's day, the 34-year-old revealed plenty of skin in her short frock ? and added even more height to her tanned legs with some white platform shoes.

Feeling the chill ... Sharon Osbourne heads in to conference centre

Sharon Osbourne upped the glamour factor of her simple black maxi dress by adding an electric blue leather jacket.

The 60-year-old told waiting fans that “Birmingham is the best” as she headed into the ICC.

Caroline Flack didn't stray far from her tried-and-tested look of short shorts with heels.

But today the Xtra Factor host was even easier to spot in the crowd - since her entire outfit, including the shoes, was covered in dots.

Spot on ... Caroline Flack.

Caroline Flack Fronts Xtra Factor With New Co-host Matt Richardson

Caroline Flack will be back to front The Xtra Factor again this year with new co-host Matt Richardson.

Young comic Matt, 21, is replacing Caroline's former sidekick Olly Murs, who stepped down from the show after two years to concentrate on his music career.

Caroline, 33, said today: "I'm really excited to be hosting Xtra Factor for the third year!

'Excited' Matt Richardson will co-host The Xtra Factor with Caroline Flack.

"Of course I'm going to miss Olly every day, but I am very proud that his music is doing so well all around the world.

"I really feel that Matt will bring something completely different to the show. He's a real find, he makes me laugh and it's great to introduce new talent. I can't wait to get started."

Matt, who has been a regular on the comedy circuit for the past two years, added: "I cannot describe how excited I am to be joining The Xtra Factor.

"Working with Caroline and the rest of the team will be an incredible experience and I will do my best to be as good as I possibly can, because I'm never going to be as gorgeous as Olly Murs."

Richard Holloway, Managing Director of Thames, said: "We are delighted that Caroline is back and that she’ll be joined by Matt. They’ve got great chemistry and as soon as we saw them together we knew they were a winning combination.”

The X Factor and The Xtra Factor will return to ITV and ITV2 respectively this autumn.

X Factor's Christopher Maloney Signs Record Deal

X Factor crooner Christopher Maloney has finally bagged a record deal – after Simon Cowell’s firm chose not to sign him.

The Scouser, third on last year’s show, said he would release an album with tiny Tristar Records.

His debut single will be out in August.

He said: “I wanted full control over what I was doing. I wanted a label that will look after me.

“I didn’t want to go somewhere with big artists where I would be put on the sideline.

“If I signed with another company, it would have been a lot longer process and my fans are waiting for my album now.”

He said the record “will be similar to Will Young’s sound” on his early recordings and “different to what people will expect”.

Sharon To Mentor Her Acts By Skype

SHARON OSBOURNE may be back on The X Factor but her acts may not get quite the close-quarters mentoring previous hopefuls enjoyed.

She’ll be jetting back to the US several times during the series, forcing her wannabes to keep in touch via Skype.

The veteran star, who returned to the show yesterday declaring herself “the nan of the panel”, will fly first-class between London and LA, with ITV picking up the £13,000-a-trip tab.

The flights are necessary because she is also hosting US chat show The Talk. Shazza tweeted: “How lucky am I to have 2 jobs @TheTalk_CBS & @TheXFactor?

“I will be going back & forth all yr, best of both worlds!”

But the to-ing-and-fro-ing will infuriate her performers who rely on their mentors to coach them.

Shazza, who quit the show after the 2007 series, will sometimes have to rely on the internet video call service to keep in touch with whichever category she gets this year.

Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh greet crowds outside city's Hilton Hotel for first round of auditions

A source said: “Sharon has done a deal which will see her jet back and forth a number of times, with her flights paid for by ITV. That was one of her conditions.

“But she is still confident she can give her acts the support they need.

“There are a million ways to keep in touch with people. Many of the judges aren’t there every day of the week.”

Last night a show spokesman insisted she would only fly back “a couple of times” when the live shows were on, with the bulk of her travel around the auditions and boot camps.

Sharon often jetted back to LA when she was last on the show in 2007.

And former judge Kelly Rowland was famously criticised for leaving her acts in the lurch. She flew back to the US after a row with Louis Walsh and Tulisa, then skipped an entire weekend, forcing former show star Alexandra Burke to step in.

Sharon is understood to want to spend as much time as possible in the US as she attempts to patch up her relationship with husband Ozzy.

We revealed that the pair were living separate lives after he confessed to taking drugs and drinking again.

She also wants to be there for son Jack, who has multiple sclerosis, and daughter Kelly who had a health scare in March, collapsing with a seizure.

Yesterday Shazza regained her slot on the judging panel for the first round of judges’ auditions in Glasgow.

The back-to-basics format saw her, Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger whittle down the first batch of 50 wannabes in a private room at the Hilton hotel.

But despite talk that she would want to be the boss, knocking Barlow off his perch, Sharon insisted she was happy to play second fiddle.

She said: “I shouldn’t be head judge - I laugh too much and I’m not serious enough. I’m the nan of the panel.

“It’s overwhelming. Honestly it is. It feels natural, it feels like I should be here.”

Gary said he was apprehensive about Sharon’s return, saying: “It’s very interesting this time because there are two artists and two managers.

“That is a great panel right there because managers see different things than artists see.

“When I’m looking at someone I’m comparing them to what I am and what I do - but managers don’t. They have a bigger overview.”

Louis said he was delighted his old pal Sharon was back.

He added: “Sharon brings the madness out in everybody. She’s going to bring out the madness in Gary too.”

GEORGE SHELLEY, JOSH CUTHBERT, JAYMI HENSLEY and JJ HAMBLETT, who reached the semi-finals of last year’s X Factor with LOUIS WALSH as their mentor, release their debut single Carry You in June.

Josh said: “If we’re talking goals, ten No1s would be nice, we may as well aim high.”

They’ll do all right if their 900,000-plus Twitter followers buy their stuff.

Nicole Choosing Between X Factor And Making Album

X Factor bosses face a battle to sign up judge Nicole Scherzinger for a new series.

The American beauty is having doubts that she can juggle both her singing and judging duties.

Nicole had seemed a dead cert for a return after wowing fans in the last series and had started serious talks with producers.

But the ex-Pussycat Doll is releasing a new album in November on both sides of the Atlantic and will need to be available for promotion.

X Factor chiefs have tabled a “generous” offer - thought to be around £1million - but Nicole has insisted that money is not the sticking point.

She told a pal: “I’m so torn right now. My heart wants me to come back and do the show as I had such a great time last year.

“But my album is coming out and I also need to focus on that.

“I don’t think I can make it work. By trying to juggle the two, one or both will suffer.” Nicole also feared fans would react badly if she did the show then had to jet off to the States midweek for promotional work.

She mentioned negative comments which surrounded former judge Kelly Rowland after her decision to return to LA in 2011, citing a throat infection, which meant she missed some live shows.

Speaking to her confidante, Nicole, who is dating F1 ace Lewis Hamilton, said: “I recall Kelly getting some harsh criticism when she went back to LA and missed a show. I don’t want that to happen to me, as I love working with my acts. That’s what made it so special.”

But friends of the star are advising her to return to the show, claiming she will regret it if she doesn’t.

Show boss Simon Cowell wants the judging line-up to be announced soon to ensure the programme regains its focus. And he said this week that he planned to revamp “every aspect of the show”.

The first round of auditions, which will see wannabes performing for judges without backing music, starts in June, with the show returning in late August or early September.

Chris Maloney: ‘Tulisa’s comments hurt the most’

Chris Maloney: ‘Tulisa’s comments hurt the most’

Chris Maloney: ‘Tulisa’s comments hurt the most’He’s been nicknamed the karaoke king and accused of churning out more cheese than a dairy.

Who are we babbling on about? Why, Chris!

This afternoon, we caught up with the lovely Liverpudlian to talk about why he thinks Union J are better than One Direction and how his Scouse spirit has been seeing him through.

We enjoyed your performances on Saturday’s show...

Thanks! It was dead good, I really enjoyed myself. The Judges often criticise my performances for being dated. It felt good to do something slightly out of my comfort zone.

Yeah, we loved the floor dancing and leather jacket...

It was nice to get the Rylan treatment in terms of the set and budget. I was delighted with the choreography Brian came up with. It was also great to ditch my usual suit for a leather jacket.

The Judges always seem to give you mixed reviews...

Yes, it’s always a mixture of good and bad. I try to use criticism I receive constructively. Tulisa’s comments hurt me the most. She’s doesn't seem interested in me. Although, it may just be a case of sour grapes now that Ella has gone.

What about the other Judges?

I love Nicole, she’s always very positive with her feedback. Gary has been a huge support. He’s not just a mentor, he’s a friend.

If you make it to the Final, are you happy about it being held up north?

If I get to the Final, it will be great. I think the audience will be lovely and really supportive in Manchester. I may get booed here but I don't think that will happen up north.

Who are you closest to in the competition?

Jamie out of Union J. He’s a top guy. I love those guys - I think they could be the next big boyband. They’re totally different to One Direction. One Direction aren’t really my cup of tea. Union J, however, are my cup of tea!

We must ask, how’s your nan?

Nan is great, she’s not paying any attention to any of the nonsense out there. I’d like to thank her and all my wonderful fans for believing in me and voting for me week after week.

Nicole: ‘I’d love to paint the town orange with Rylan!’

Nicole: ‘I’d love to paint the town orange with Rylan!’

Nicole: ‘I’d love to paint the town orange with Rylan!’

One of our favourite things about this series of The X Factor has been Nicole’s heee-lair-ious ‘Scherzims.’

Thus far, we’ve been treated to sha-mazing, sha-maze balls and gorge-oire. We’re also loving the way she draws out her words really sexily and s-l-o-w-l-y, pronouncing each and every syllable, like ‘LIV-ING!’

In addition to being quite the linguist, our foxy and feisty Judge sure knows how to hold a tune and rock a frock. When she’s not being generally fabulous, Nicole can also be found mentoring and fussing over her three Boys like a mother hen.

In the flesh, sans make-up, she’s insanely gorgeous and refreshingly down-to-earth. We caught up with the Pussycat Doll to talk about nights out with her Boys, being a Bond Girl and why she wanted to keep hold of that ASDA uniform. Say whaaat?

Rylan sooo owned Gary on Saturday’s show…

Oh my gosh! Rylan went in for the kill and all Gary could do was put his hands up and admit defeat. That’s what happens when you’re mean to Rylan week after week.

Where would you take your Boys for a night out on the razz?

My boys are all so different. I’d love to go and see Beverly Knight perform with Jahmene. Rylan would be up for anything. He’s a party animal. I’d paint the town red - oops, make that orange - with him. I think we’d party ‘til sunrise together. We’d tear up GAY!

What about James?

I’d love for James to take me to one of his favourite pubs. We could play some acoustic music together and jam out over a few pints and some pork scratchings.

You were a little spooked by Christopher’s performance on Saturday…

The laser eyes that came out of his massive face during his performance were creepy. I didn’t find Chris creepy but that collage was scary. He’s a good singer, though. I wasn’t knocking him, just that screen behind him.

We reckon you’d make an ace Bond Girl…

I’d love to be a kick-ass bond girl. I’d be very stealth-like with ninja skills. My name would be Nikita or something exotic like Proscovia.

‘Fess up! Did you REALLY enjoy working at ASDA for the day?

I love ASDA! Taking over their telecom was definitely a highlight for me. I really enjoyed cheekily slashing the prices over the tannoy. Thanks to that, I think lots of people saved money that day. Plus, who can escape that electrifying outfit? I’m a sucker for emerald green. I liked dressing up in it!

How do you unwind post-show?

I love to treat myself to some red velvet cake or listen to Prince. I’d love for there to be a Prince week. It’d be great to see one of my Boys sing ‘Darling Nikki.’
